Light-weight OS

I have a Dell inspiron 1464 and it's thermal throttling really badly and also lag-ing.I want to change the OS should I go with Cub-linux or Neverware's cloud-ready OS?If there are any other suggestions please do mention them(it should be free).

Linux won't make it run any cooler here. At idle the cpu is off in both windows and linux due to c states, and windows is about the same power under load.

 

If you just want linux, id go with debian with xfce personally.

Change the thermal paste and clean the cooler.
