Screen tearing

So I just got my first PC in 9 years a couple weeks ago, (I've only used my old laptop maybe twice per year since I bought it) so I'm sorry if this is a very noob question. I got a 75hz 1080p LG monitor, plugged directly in to my GPU, a GTX 1050ti 4GB, using a DVI-D single link cable. In all my games, (particularly in overwatch) however, I have constant screen tearing. I heard it's affected by the fps being higher than the monitors refresh rate, but it happens no matter what fps my games are running at. My monitor only supports DVI-D and VGA. Should I get a new monitor, or is there something I'm missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated, and if you need any other information about my PC, please let me know.

It's rarely if ever the monitor. Do you use vsync in games? Have you done a clean driver uninstall with DDU and then re-installed fresh drivers?

dvi-d single link doesn't have enough bandwidth for 1080p 75hz, get a dual link cable and set the refresh rate to your monitor's native refresh rate and enable vsync
