Hi,

I want a new graphics card. I current run an older machine (2014 build) with a AMD Radeon HD 5450 card. But, I feel it's time to replace it.

Basically, I just want a reliable card that will run multiple monitors (up to 3).

Any suggestions?

What are your full system specs? The CPU and PSU are some of the most important parts when deciding on a GPU upgrade, as you don't want it to draw too much power or bottleneck/be bottlenecked by your CPU.

Most midrange GPUs released in the last 2 years will support up to 3 monitors.

Depends on what you’re after, gaming; general pc usage, etc? Plus, you may favour amd or nvidia? At the moment the gpu market is pretty bad, I’d wait a bit if possible.

Gaming would be secondary. Primarily to run the monitors.

Not in a major rush. Not even in the US at the moment. I am planning a trip back over the next couple of / few months. I don't trust computer components in the country where I live. (I'm an American, living abroad.)

what games? is your HD 5450 completely struggling in everything, or is it good enough for most things and you're in a itch to upgrade?

Yeah; I’d wait then, graphics cards a still costing more than rrp and such, how bad is the performance for you from the 5450?, what monitor resolutions is it pushing to?

Well, your CPU is fine so that's good. As long as you don't have a trash PSU, you should be mostly fine.

Not struggling. Just wanna upgrade. Not a gamer. So, that isn't really an issue. Wouldn't mind if it would run some online games, if I choose to play them, though. Seems to still work fine, honestly.

right now isn't the best moment to upgrade. any graphics card you'd buy can run your 3 screens. if it's just for that you can just keep what you have there won't be a difference, your integrated graphics can do it. prices are completely out of wack right now, you'll be able to get a 1050Ti for your money if the prices come back to normal (1150 or 2050 what ever they end up naming it when that comes out, that's probably end of summer though)

Too old to see the specs. Took a photo. Will have a look as soon as it uploads to dropbox, from my phone.

But, I thought about buying a new processor and mobo while back home, too.

you have no reason to upgrade at all. you're really spending cash for the heck of it at this point.

True. But, the last time I was in the US, was 2014. Four years later, I am planning another visit. No idea when I will return again, if ever. Worst case, rather than just upgrading, I guess I could do a complete build while there and bring it back with me, like I did last time.

290 watts.

Get a new PSU. Corsair CX450M is a decent choice, for future's sake I would recommend the 550M. This will obviously cut into your GPU budget, but either PSU can usually be had for roughly 50 USD. What is your full budget?

People take a lot of things for granted, living in countries like the US, Australia, England, etc. We have a LOT available to us, that isn't in many countries, especially in Southeast Asia. Not to mention, tons of fake parts here, as well. Junk.

A hd 5450 should be good with 768p etc, however , maybe it’s just wearing out, it is a rather old graphics card after all. Any recent card should be good for 3 monitor output.

But I’d suggest waiting a bit, see what nvidia throws out later this year; in the equivalent of a 1050/1050ti etc,

as other users have suggested, you should look for a better psu too; a 550watt would suffice for even cpu and mobo upgrades too I guess?

Whatever I really need to spend. Of course, I would prefer not spending $1,000 US on these parts, all in all.

Like I said, I'm not having issues with it. In fact, I make sure I blow out the computer fairly often. Time to do it again today, too. So, I don't have heat issues or other. Basically, just looking to upgrade - before I have troubles.

Later this year sounds good, as that is when I plan to be stateside.
