Creating new bootrecord

Hi

I am currently working on fixing a dead laptop with "bootmgr missing" for a couple of friends of mine. But does writing a new boot record with cmd via windows install solve this issue. Or does it delete their data?

I am restoring via windows 10 installer and the OS is windows 7. If this helps

Do you have backups? make backups before you do anything.

Need bootloader should fix the issue, get a windows 7 installer though.

No they don't have a back up
