so this is the current build that i came up with https://pcpartpicker.com/list/j2d7P3 full mid tier parts etc. i was wondering if i can improve it.

EDIT: Purpose is mainly gaming and maybe other stuff like for youtube videos and so on

EDIT2: feel free to suggest more builds around the same price as this one. if you think this build can be improved without increasing the price please do go ahead suggest other builds/parts

I think I would purchase 2x8gb of ram instead of 4x4gb :) Just to have the option to go from 16gb to 32gb if you ever need it.

120gb of storage isn't much, pony up for a 240gb MX500 instead. the CS at that price is a bad value, get the coolermaster masterwatt instead.

1 problem i rather keep the ryzen 5 1600x because of the 12 threads. and ryzen 5 1600 needs an am4 socket. and the motherboard you suggested doesn't support that.

i linked the i5 8400, obviously i wouldn't be pairing it up with an motherboard that does not match the socket of the cpu. the i5 8400 is better in gaming compared to the 1600/X, even with the tread count due to higher IPC.

elder scrolls online Eats cpu like crazy thats why the more threads the better.

is there another build that you have? maybe. amd. or any other build. so i can see my options

a lowly r9 270 ran run elder scrolls online at ultra at 50fps, a 1060 will do just as well with either cpu while the i5 8400 performs better in other titles.

ESO is very single thread reliant so an Intel CPU for that game would be a wiser choice as it has better single thread performance. A CPU heavy game doesn't necessarily mean it requires or will even use a lot of threads, most games are optimized for 4 threads and can use 8 decently because 4c/8t CPUs is the most common platform.

thanks you just helped me make up my mind. looks like i5 it is.

but is it possible to improve the build he suggested even more? without increasing the price much.
