I have 2 usb ports on my macbook pro and thats now enough. If i get a usb 3.0 adaptor, could I conformably use a usb mouse with an external ssd that runs windows 10? If not, I can't find hardly any thunderbolt to usb or thunderbolt to ethernet cables. Thunderbolt cables in general seem non existent.

Really? I've seen quite a few TB2 cables and adapters within the last year.

If you got a USB hub with enough ports, you should be fine for your uses.

TB2 has been quite rare pretty much whole time. TB3 uses a more standard USB Type-C, so it is more widely used.

I can't find any TB2 cable that supports ethernet and perhaps a few extra usb ports under 30 bucks.

Thunderbolt accessories aren't cheap. I would guess it is due to complexity or licensing.
