G-Sync vs Ultrawide

Heyo,

 

I'm looking to get myself a new monitor and I'm on the fence on getting an Ultrawide 32"/34" or the Acer Predator XB271HU 27" (2560 x 1440p 144Hz with G-Sync). Both monitors will be 1440p monitors and at least 100Hz.

 

Use cases:
Productivity for my work

Heavy gaming on my freetime and occasional streaming.

 

Additional question: How much is the difference gaming on a G-sync panel and is it enough that it justify the size difference? :)
I'll be upgrading from a 21" 60Hz monitor which will now serve as my 2nd monitor.

I went from a 165hz, g-sync, IPS, 1440p panel to a 3440p, 100hz, non-gsync, VA panel and honestly I love the ultrawide way more and now not having g-sync I realize how much I didn't really need it. My vote is for the ultrawide

Hard decision. I'm using Ultrawide with FreeSync and its an amazing expierence. If I were you, I would save up and buy Acer Predator Z35.

 

But I vote for Ultrawide, its an amazing gaming expirence, and very usefull if you need it for your work.

While ultrawide gaming is cool, there aren't many titles that natively support the resolution. Maybe there'll be more new games but if you want to try anything older then you have to play with black bars. Just keep that in mind before you make your decision. 

 

Personally i own the acer predator and its good. I went for this cause i generally have many classic games that i frequently go back to when i feel like playing and it sucks to play with black bars.  

Microsoft in there infinite wisdom have decided to impose a VRAM cap for games the that use DX9 o.O. May God Bless them those whoever came up with that idea. :dry:

 

You're looking for something that does not, has not, will not, might not or must not exist ... ... but you're always welcome to search for it.

Yes, a lot of games won't run native 21:9, but some internet browsing, and you can make them work.

I'll take all of this into consideration before making the final purchase. I haven't had the chance to try gaming on a gsync panel so im not really sure since I hear a lot of people saying that once you go g-sync you'll never go back. lol

Just ordered the x34 g sync off of Acer Referbish site for 720 bucks. I thought that was a good deal. Ips, 100hz g sync. It checked all the boxes for me.

Ultrawides are good yes, there good for gaming also and if a game supports it its an amazing display, the issue I had was for most games I played it either didn't support it or was just a pain to get it to work, I spent more time making them work in 21:9 than actually playing the game.. :/

G-sync is worth it but the question is hard for some one else to answer as its more about the pc you have and if you can spare the extra money for the g-sync version display.. 

If you can run games @100+ fps on high or better settings and have the extra 300ish spare then I would get an ultrawide with g-sync, I had the Acer Predator X34 and sold if a few months ago because the games I play(racing) for me are better on triple monitors which is what I have now.

Also the Acer and Asus ultrawides are great but I hear good things about the AlienWare ultrawide aswell.
