do i really need G-sync or Freesync.

So question for those who have a 1440p UW monitor 100hz and above and a 1080ti, is there any need for G-sync or Freesync at all isn't the 1080ti well capable for ultra settings without stuttering or tearing.

neither will ever be classified as "need" - but they are very nice to have., Since you have a 1080ti FreeSync is irelevant. If you've spend that amount on a 1080ti you'd might as well spend the extra on a Gsync panel - it works and it is very nice to have.

Some say that G-sync makes too much of difference that it is worth investing in

I don't think a 1080 ti can hit above 100 fps at 3440x1440 on ultra settings if you look at some newer titles.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

I've played on 1080, 1440 and now 4k for years w/o gsync or freesync and I've encountered no issues.

However, it's just like playing on a higher refresh rate or higher resolution, once you use it and get used to it, you probably won't be able to turn back.

Yeah you are probably right about not being able to hit those FPS's so in fact G-sync is "needed" then for a better and more smooth experience.
