Device/Mouse NOT WORKING in DEVICE MANAGER

Recently in a middle of a game my mouse suddenly stopped working. I checked device manager and it said ''The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)'' but the mouse i use doesn't need drivers to run. I tried reinstalling the device, tried switching the mouse and switch my USB around to see if it detects in the BIOS (it detected) but none of that worked. After I uninstalled the device and re-plugged it back in, it just shows an error message Please help!

I would start by uninstalling everything under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers". You might need to use keyboard commands to move around.

Right click each of the items under USB controllers and click uninstall. In the confirmation box that pups check the box that says to delete the driver, too. Once it is empty, restart the computer.

I'm currently running windows off of a USB so it will probably blue screen and i wouldn't be able to boot (Hard drive has data that needs to be recovered). I'm using a laptop so i can use the track pad. Is there any other way?
