Rubber-like plastic case that turns into sticky mess after a year...

I have this Xigmatek case for 5 years now, and I really love how simple and functional it is. I really liked the rubber feel on the case when I first got it, but now I'm starting to regret that decision.

 

The rubber-like plastic has turned into a sticky mess! Anyone has any idea how I can remove it? Or is it possibly to just spray paint over it and call it a day?

 

I don't want to get a new case as I'm saving for a new graphics card and the case is still functional.

It’s one of those finishes.... afaik there’s not much you can do. You either leave it alone, in effectively try and scrap it off, or just get a new case.

 

I can’t see painting it working very well.

 

Depending not your specific requirements, I’d be on the lookout for a cheap case and junk the current one.

you can try goo-gone  that stuff is awesome, but honestly a new case would probably be better if its really bugging you

If it's flat, try a razor blade with some soapy water

Just grab whatever panels you're okay with testing and try using soapy wooder.
