Hello guys,

I'm planning to build a computer for my gf that is going to game and stream with. My plan is the following:

Now, I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions for me. I would be giving her one of my GTX980 that I have and I know it's plenty for OBS and gaming at the same time. The case is not a big deal for me and it will actually be picked by her later on.

Thanks in advance.

get a cosair CX instead of the B3, and an MX500 imstead of the ultra 2. also, you can skip the 212x and use the stock cooler.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

well first of all id recommend a case and a Graphics card xD

Otherwise, that should be a great streaming build and however i wouldnt buy the cm 212 cooler, you dont have a overclockable CPU

Yeah, I wrote: "Now, I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions for me. I would be giving her one of my GTX980 that I have and I know it's plenty for OBS and gaming at the same time. The case is not a big deal for me and it will actually be picked by her later on."

I feel that the stock cooler is not good enough though

Would the stock cooler be enough? I feel that it won't be when the CPU is at full load (streaming and gaming at the same time).

Good move. Streaming can be quite CPU intensive, so a mid-range cooler is a good touch.

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Laptop (Dell XPS 13):

Intel Core i7-1195G7 • Intel Iris Xe Graphics • 16GB LPDDR4x 4267MHz • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD • 13.4" OLED 3.5K InfinityEdge Display (3456x2160, 400nit, touch).

Got any questions about my system or peripherals? Feel free to tag me (@bellabichon) and I'll be happy to give you my two cents.

PSA: Posting a PCPartPicker list with no explanation isn't helpful for first-time builders :)

the stock cooler is plenty when you aren'T pushing a chip past it's specs. it's a locked chip... and yeah it's fine as long as you want to stream through nvenc which i find pretty ugly but most people tend to rely on

    Ryzen R6 5700X
  • Motherboard
    MSI B350M mortar arctic
  • RAM
    32GB Corsair RGB 3600MT/s CAS18
  • GPU

    kind of a mess
  • Storage

it'll work just fine, if it really can't run at okay temps then an aidos black for $10 performs the same but is smaller and much cheaper.

I agree. I will teach her how to use OBS, the best one in my opinion.

Ok, I will try it on stock for now and see down the line... I can always add one later with no problems

h.264 takes too much power to be feasible for most people unless aiming at ryzen 1700 but that's more expensive then that i5. food for thought

I don't like to build AMD honestly, I prefer Intel even if it's a little more expensive. I used to stream on my 5930K which is a 6 cores 12 threads @ 3.5GHz and I was able to stream good quality 1080 while playing games on that same CPU. Why would then this i5 not be able to stream at 720 or even 1080 in your opinion?

Makes sense, if you prefer intel, thats what you prefer. Just remember you are going to have this PC for a long long time. Its not worth it to skimp on the CPU, not at all worth it. Spend extra money where it counts!

@Canada EH, @SquintyG33Rs, @herman mcpootis Would you guys say that this is then worth the roughly 80$ difference?

Get the Corsair CX550M its like a tier 2 or tier 3 so good quality psu, plus you save a few bucks.

And the Ryzen 1600 with its 6 cores is a good choice if you want to save more money!

But yeah if you want more cores then keep the cpu 1700 has 8 cores.

720 maybe. 1080p won't be any better than nvenc and you'll be losing allot of your own fps for it. not ideal. it's not really about AMD vs intel here, the encoding profits allot from more cores/threads that's why your 12 thread chip was doing so good. this 6core isn't that great. and AMD has more cores that's all
