Sorry to say this, I am not aware of a single root method for the Nexus 5x that works without needing to unlock the bootloader. (Anyways I haven't seen any indication that Kingroot works on the Nexus 5x beyond the 7.0 preview)

These tools are notorious for the malware they can carry.

I can walk you through the process, but keep in mind you'll need to unlock your bootloader (Resulting in your personal data being wiped if it isn't held else where)
