Hey guys,

Christmas is approaching and i need to find out what i want for present. I don't have any headphones atm, so i want to fix that. I've decided to go with a headset rather than headphones. (END OF DISCUSSION :D )

My motherboard has built in sound card and i can't decide whether to get the Corsair Vengeance 1500 or the Corsair Vengeance 1400. First one is USB and second is Analog. (These headphones are within the budget i'm allowed to wish for)

I will use this mainly for gaming, since i like listening to music on my speakers. (Lawts of bazz!)

The USB one has Dolby 7.1 and i would like to know if that is gonna give me a better experience while gaming, over the analog with sound card?

Thank you. ;)

analogue. analogue. analogue. analogue. analogue. analogue. analogue. analogue.

Analogue

I just hear everywhere that 7.1 gives you a more immersive experience while gaming, over the nice quality sound of analog plugs with sound card?

The virtual 7.1 on the 1500 are nice and sounds good but it you don't care about that then get the 1400

The 1400 is one of the new ones if I am not mistaken? The old series had durability issues, so go with whatever is newer.

I watched half through the video before, and all they do is rant about noise interference. Do they mention something to answer my question?

Ah, well in that case I'd go analog. It can be used with more devices. Virtual surround can be achieved with Razer Surround if desired.

If that doesn't convince you, tell your folks to pick whoever is cheaper, especially if they find one on sale.

Hardware and peripherals rarely goes on sale where i live, and they are almost the exact same price. I feel more convinced to stick with analog. :)

I'm having basically the same decision - vengance 1500v2 or 1400. I'm using the onboard sound on my sabertooth z77, so meh. Would I benefit from having the USB sound card, which presumably has amps etc to make it a bit better, or is analog no worse, but just cheaper?

And is the vengance 1400/1500V2 a good headset for gaming, or would you recommend something a bit better?

I did watch Logan's video, and it really did sound like what they were saying promoted mayflower electronics's products quite a lot. Linus swears by a good sound card, yet that video dismissed them as a whole load of BS, and they can't both be right.

Linus has been changing is opinion lately, though he doesn't come right out and say it like Logan does.

The DAC and amp on the USB version are likely the exact same thing as what's soldered to your motherboard, at least measurement-wise.
