What you have right now is just fine. If anything sell the two 970 gpus and buy yourself a 1070

Hi all,

Currently i am looking to upgrade to a new CPU/MBO,

currently i have an i7 4770K with the msi z97 gaming 7 MBO with 2 GTX 970 in SLI.

I was thinking to getting myself a 8700K as cpu, not so sure on the motherboard.

Do you guys have any recommendations for a good mbo and/or cpu ?

And is it good to upgrade or should i wait a while ?

As for the budget it isn't really a big deal for me.

I live in Belgium but i order most of the stuff online on amazon/local computer stores.

thanks in advance,

Jelle

Well, it depends on what you're doing. If you're just gaming then stick with what you have and wait awhile before upgrading. If you need a new CPU for doing gaming, VR and more work like stuff then get the 8700k. For a mobo get this:https://www.amazon.com/GIGABYTE-Z370-AORUS-Gaming-Motherboard/dp/B075KFX627/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_3?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1519150445&sr=8-3-fkmr1&keywords=z370+mobo  It has a good design and good OC. If you get the 8700k then you have to OC.

I agree with @Canada EH , the i7 haswells are perfectly capable; I’d suggest selling the 970s for a 1070 or something.

My PC (Known as Theseus IV):

—CPU: R9 5950X (B2 Stepping)

—Ram: 32GB Vengeance Pro SL RGB

—Graphics: AMD RX 6900XT

—Motherboard: Asus ROG C8DH

—Storage: 990 Pro 2TB

—CPU Cooling: NZXT Z73 RGB 360

—Case: Corsair 5000D Airflow

—PSU: Corsair AX850

out of stock, and i am speaking of every card ranging from the 1060 - titan V

All I can suggest then; is wait a bit; find a used one maybe, when prices drop a little (unless you’re after new, that may end up being quicker but who knows except nvidia at this point?)

probably going to wait for the new cards that are (mostly) going to be released this year.
