SLI

Go to solution Solved by Canada EH,

its not worth SLI for gaming

it would have advantages in certain producivity tasks.

its also worth it to SLI for mining as well.

Is putting two 1080 ti's in SLI convenient because I think I remember Linus saying that most games don't even use the second gpu (can't find the vid).

So would it even be worth buying the second one?

And would it have advantage in any productivity task?

Unless the game is written in a way that work well with SLI, if not, most of the time adding SLI will not benefit much at all. Also depends on your monitor. Example you have a 60Hz monitor and your current 1080Ti can already produce more than 60 fps then by adding another GPU will not be advised. Even if you have like 1000fps, your monitor can only display 60fps ...

Mining does not utilize SLI in much the same fashion as Premier doesn't either.

Id do it, 2 is better than 1. If I had a system that could support 2 of them, can barely use a single 1080 as it is.

Games is the only situation which uses SLI, but due to scaling issues (so 2 cards dont even give 150% of performance to 1 card) it's not good value.
