Black blocks in dark zones of monitor

Nocte

I have started to notice that wherever there are dark colours, my monitor displays them in blocks. I checked the same exact pictures from the same source on other devices and they did not appear to have that problem.

Do you have any idea what it could be?

- Monitor?

- GPU?

Unfortunately I have no access to a second monitor or second GPU.

I see this in low-end TV/monitors. The contrast ratio is not good enough. Has this always happened or is this something recent? What brand is your monitor?

Looks to me almost like its trying to brighten the dark colours. These blocks are normal, but not to such an extreme extent.

Try playing around with http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/ and getting your monitor to best match the descriptions on each test, mostly tests dealing with contrast, blacks, and whites

It's an AOC G2460PF - I have installed @Glenwing 's color profile:

Glenwing, do you ever experience this?

I had a look at it but seems time consuming and I need sleep :P. Will try it tomorrow after University, thanks!

I don't experience anything like that :/ There's a little more banding than I'd like in the darker tones with my profile, but nothing like that.
