ultra bugdet GPU HELP!!!

Go to solution Solved by Jay Deah,

Another option to consider is changing your case and swapping your components into a standard ATX case. This was you can use any GPU you like.

I personally have an OptiPlex 7010 SFF running inside my antec case. You’ll want a <$5 adapter for the power switch and system fan from moddiy.com (dell use proprietary connectors) and you may lose your front panel usb2 and headphone/mic jacks if you don’t fancy re-wiring the connectors.

The Only GPU you can buy, and worth buying right now is the GT 1030, so the choice is pretty easy

You just need to make sure to update your BIOS if possible before installing.

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Just look up benchmarks for the GT 1030, but it's your only option right now anyways

No, you would have to make sure your power supply can handle it and has the PCIe connectors.

However, you can get low profile 1050 and 1050 Ti cards that don't need extra power connectors. Those would be much better for gaming than a 1030 and better value for money as well.

Except they're either out of stock or marked up 50%-100%

I have a GT 1030 low profile from MSI.  It is a rare one that has displayport, not just hdmi.  So if you plan on getting a better monitor in the future, I'd go with that one.  Not sure how it would perform on games, but if it is your only option, it isn't a bad one.

you need a standard ATX case with a standard ATX power supply (the Dell power supply wont mount easily in an ATX case).

https://www.amazon.com/Computer-Cases-Add-Ons-Computers/b?ie=UTF8&node=572238

you use the existing dell motherboard, it will fit in a normal case. the only non-standard things are:

POWER/RESET SWITCH - Use an Adapter Cable from MODDIY or crimp the cables yourself

CASE FAN - Either keep the DELL Case fan or get an adapter cable from MODDIY (or leave it out, it warns you on boot but still works fine)

FRONT_PANEL (HDAUDIO+USB2) - plug in the existing front panel and leave it inside the case, or bridge 2 pins on the connector (or leave it out, it warns you on boot but still works fine)

The 1050 2GBs don't seem to be affected. They're not suitable for Etherium anymore.

Still starting at $150 for that tier of card on the part picker

Well, what can I say, the situation is worse in Murika than it is here in the UK.

I have to change the power supply if i go with a big case cause my current one will not fit so i have to have a new big power supply and 1050 is 2gb and 1030 is also 2gb whats the difference ?
