Hey guys, I'm in the market for new headphones because I absolute hate my razer kraken and it can just die in a f**king fire its uncomfortable as hell and shouldn't even exist. I need something which is USD$65 ish and I am going to use it mainly for gaming but also music. I listen to different types of music so just need something decent. I don't need a mic as my laptop has one built in. I also need closed headphones as I don't want to disturb my family members in the night when I'm staying up late at night. Also, I'm going to use integrated audio so nothing too over the top.

Do you need noise cancelling?

Nope, just need something that won't leak much noise, some is okay, but not too much.

How long would you have to wait to double your budget. I think you would be better off in the long run than buying something in your price range right now. This is what you should be aiming for

You could give the JVC HA-S500 a look. Keep in mind they are on ear though. Supposed to have pretty good sound quality for the price.

Isn't JVC like out of business or something?

I just looked it up and it looks like they merged with a company called Kenwood a while back, so I think they're now called like JVC-Kenwood or something, maybe thats what you're thinking of.

Yeah, I think so.

Impedance is a tricky thing when it comes to headphones. I don't fully understand it but I know having a higher impedance doesn't necessarily mean better quality. What it does mean though is that the headphones will require more power to drive them (need an amplifier or they will sound quite). You can have low impedance headphones and they can still have cracking good quality. Generally much higher end headphones ($300+) tend to be high impedance headphones.
