Hello Everyone!

I recently went back to pc after a long time using macs, I'm doing development that makes more use of power CPU and GPU that I could get on a mac, so I build my own.

I'm running an Asus Z370-a mobo with an Intel i7-8700k using Gskill RipJaws V 2400mhz at 1.2v

I'm overclocking my CPU at 5ghz and everything seems stable I been running Intel extreme tuning utility for about 2 hours now and the system is stable and temp looks stable too, but everything seems to go to smooth. and that it's kinda weird.

I would just like to share my data and see if it looks ok to everyone else.

CPUZ and CAM, as well as intel utils, says that CPU clock is at 5.00Ghz some time it dips a bit to 4.94Ghz

Max Temperatures seem sin CAM and Intel util are topping at 71 degrees C (for what I seem it seems super good, I'm using an x62 kraken) but overall the graph is pretty stable no high peaks the CPU idles at about 35 or so.

Max Voltage reported in CPUZ and intel util is 1,36v

the weirdest part comes from Intel tunning util where the package TDP never goes above 11w and that just looks super low to me, especially because before overclocking when I was doing base reading it went up to 70w

could it I be doing something stupid here? or is this normal behavior?

This is normal. After all, isn't 5GHz on an 8700k only a bump of 200-300MHz?

yes, max turbo is 4.7 but the voltage had an increase of .22 of the base the mobo was showing and the temp is just at 5-degree delta.

everything just seems too smooth for me and got a bit suspicious.

First time OC with a good cooler?

I'll put it this way: if I got my i7-950 to 5GHz, that would be an incredible feat, since stock it only runs at 3.07GHz. But since you hitting 5GHz on an 8700k is only bumping it up about 300MHz...yeah.
