You can just burn the installer to a blank DVD.

This will work.

As long as the DVD has enough space for the installer.

I don't know...I think your method is going to be far too complex to even be worth it when you can just wait a few days, and do it without any headaches..well...theoretically.

If the BIOS doesn't have native support for USB, try PLOP boot loader. It can load from a floppy (IIRC) and allows USB booting. If the computer really is that old though, it may only support USB 1.1, and in that case you'd be better off with installing from an optical disc. What's the model of computer?

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2

Just use RUFUS, it still has its XP support despite it not being officially supported anymore and will create you an XP Flash Drive that boots just like a CD ROM.

Ignore this, the bios still needs usb boot support for it to work.

Then you'll need a CD. I am not certain, but I doubt that system has a DVD drive.

Who are you, who has 3.5" Floppy media on hand but not CD media? @_@

Hey, I’ve been in the same position. Floppies can be very useful.

I'm not criticizing his possession of floppies.  It's just that if I was betting on weather someone who did not have any CDRs on hand, had any floppies on hand, my bet would be 'No'.
