860 evo is about double the price of 850 in germany :(

Thanks, so to clarify. I do not need to change anything in the bios or do some windows partitioning thing, right?

No you don't just plug it in, but remember to change the download location when you install things, otherwise they will still install to your boot drive

Hi, i built my first pc about a year ago and now ist finally the tine for me to consider upgrading some parts. I usually just install games on my drives.

I want so buy a samsung 850 500gb ssd to upgrade my pc. So here are a few questions:

- should i go with this ssd or not?

- do i need to take care of anything after connecting the ssd?

I just want more storage, as i already have a boot ssd.

Only reason I'd say not to go with the 850 Evo is that the 860 Evo is out.

Desktop: [Processor: Intel Skylake i5 6600K (stock for now)][HSF: CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO]
[PSU: EVGA SuperNova 750 B2][Case: Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 Silver]
[Motherboard: AsRock Z170 Extreme4][RAM: 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-2666]
[Video: eVGA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB 03G-P4-6160-KR]
[Hard Drives: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB]
Notebook: [HP Envy x360 15z][Ryzen 7 2700U w/ Radeon RX Vega 10][8GB RAM][256GB m.2 nVME SSD]

Gaming:[SteamID: STEAM_0:0:1792244 - "[TC]CreepingDeath"]

If you are using the drive just for storage and don't mind some extra wait time I would definitely recommend picking up something like the Seagate barracuda. But if you are going to use that ssd, after connecting power and the sata cable to the motherboard your computer should detect it as a usable drive.
