well whatever OPT TEMP1 is has overheated, id guess thats the CPU so clean the heatsink and replace the thermal paste

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

I'm pretty sure OPT TEMP1 is an external temperature sensor, follow the wires plugged into OPT TEMP1 on mobo and see where exactly is it reading the temperature. It's possible that the sensor itself is simply faulty.

Look into your mobo's user manual and find OPT_TEMP1 header (I see it near bottom right corner) and follow the wires to where the sensor is located. Also what is your PC case? The sensors probably came with the case so by knowing the model we could find out where they are. I frankly doubt they'd put an optional, external sensor on something like VRMs so over temp warning on them and not on built-in mobo sensors is just weird.

i have liquid cooling cpu

i don't what what its called but something like this nzxt liquid cooling

Boot into Windows if you can, then download and run both HWMonitor and Prime95 (Aida64 will work as well, but P95 is free). Run a stress test with P95, opting for the "maximum heat" option. Make sure HWMonitor is running, and just monitor some temps (preferably CPU).

Don't tell him to run stress tests when we don't even know WHAT exactly is that sensor measuring...

OP, you could also go to BIOS/UEFI, find temperature readings and see current readings and what limit is OPT_TEMP1 set to. It could be that you've accidentally lowered the limit in the past.

Now, it's still a bit difficult to tell on the photo, but is there another wire connected vertically BELOW the brown wire? I might be wrong, but it looks like the other wire of the sensor is connected to PowerLED+ header, and if that's the case, it might be the source of your problem.

Check whether both wires of the sensor are connected together, one below the other, not next to it.

Idk but check your cpu cooler, you may have forgotten something.  If your gpu temps are 30C at idle and 2 cpu dies are 70C at idle, there might be an issue EDIT: take the cooler off and make sure the plastic cover is removed from the cooler and reapply the thermal compound

🙂

It seems you have no OPT_TEMP1 sensor connected at all, and instead connected your Power LED to Temperature sensor header. Does your Power LED work?? This makes your mobo go crazy. Fix that and you're probably ok. http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1150/MAXIMUS-VI-FORMULA/E8336_Maximus_VI_Formula.pdf

OP, check if your pump is working. Your screen is indicating that your CPU is overheating, but since you are using watercooling you do NOT have a fan plugged into the OPT TEMP1. In fact, your pump is also plugged into the wrong header. It should be plugged into a header right below it.

Stop following the wrong wires.

Look into manual I linked an make sure you have everything connected correctly. As I mentioned you seem to have your PowerLED plugged incorrectly, into the sensor header instead of the LED header, although I can't tell that with 100% certainty from just photos, so check with your manual.

It seems that whoever was putting the computer together has mistook the OPT_TEMP1 header as a part of PANEL header and plugged both POWER LED and HDD LED too far to the left.
