Hey guys so I’m looking to purchase a new monitor, as I have been using a massive 4K tv as my display up until now. And you may think, well a massive tv that’s in 4K must be better looking than a small monitor right? Well one thing I’ve noticed is that despite the fact that I have a 1080ti, games just generally don’t perform as smoothly as I wish they would be at 4K, so I am considering upgrading, while at the same time, downgrading. Let me explain, so I think what I’m looking for right now is a 1440p monitor at 165hz, so the resolution will be lowering, but the refresh rate will more than double, and I will be able to take advantage of gsync, so do you think this would be a wise purchase? Generally my games such as Gta 5, and Skyrim SE run at 60fps, but often dip in certain areas, even at mid to high settings, so do you think lowering my native res to 1440 and increasing my hz to 165 plus gsync would do the asking price justice? Or would you personally invest in something different like an occulus or something for a similar price? Basically all I’m asking here is do you think this is the right direction I should go for a 400-500 dollar price range on my rig, in other words if you had my rig (full specs in my signature), would you personally throw $500 into a new monitor, or upgrade/change something else in my rig?

My current display: VIZIO E43U-D2 43 inch LED 2160p 4K Ultra HD Home Theater Display https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N2AOMH3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_DLlEAbGYCHWWB

The difference between your TV and a monitor like this will be significantly better. 27" is the sweet spot for 1440p, this monitor is 99 more, but well worth the price difference.

So you think this would be a wise purchase? Looking at the rest of my specs, do you think the rest of my rig is pretty beefy for 1440p gaming?

Yeah, unless you plan on straming, youre CPU will carry fine for right now. But only you  tell. Go to micro center perhaps and try it out and see. For me, I upgraded to a 34 ultra wide 120hz IPS g-sync monitor from the one I posted above, and I have been extremely happy.

Alright, I'll take a trip to MC after my next payday, which should likely get me up and over the price range of this monitor, and if I like what I see I'll buy it, thanks for the advice:)
