Not sure where to put this, here looked good.

Im wondering if these would work with asus aura: https://www.banggood.com/Wholesale-5M-RGB-3528-LED-Strip-Flexible-Lights-Waterproof-300led-44key-Remote-Controlle-p-59466.html?rmmds=search&cur_warehouse=CN

Im not really wanting to spend 120 bucks to get all the edges on my computer so would this work?

That is SMD3258, your going to want to get SMD5050 RGB based LED's if you want to use it with regular Aura Sync. Note the max rated amperage on your RGB header you do not want to exceed that meaning you cannot plug in an entire 5M strip into it, it must be cut down.

What does the 5050 mean?

SMD5050 is the type of LED chip that is used, they are the most common for RGB and is what has been standardized.

If you want to link it to your motherboard they must use the 4 pin type standard which is sound with the SMD5050 LED's. You will be limited to how many LED's you can run as said since you cannot exceed the output amperage of the RGB header on your motherboard.

Is the rgb header the only way to run the leds? or can it work thru usb or something? Sorry, im really new to this xD

If you want to sync the lighting effects sync with the rest of your system yes. They are remote control options with separate power if you just want to control the LED effects.

Im assuming that once you cut the strip to size, the rest that has been cut is useless, or can you use the other stuff as well?

There are cut points along the LED you can resolder or get crimp connections to use the rest of the LED strip.

In my case, its really hard to find stores that sell decent priced rgb strips (branded ones) and the ones that are sold in online shops are expensive so I was thinking about making a dyi rgb led strip that can be attached to the mobo.

Look up Distro called Mouser(Mouser.com). They sell everything you can think of including branded RGB Strips.

Yep that will work you need to check what your max amperage your header is rated for most are 2 Amps (24W).

In that case a for that density of 300LED's on a single roll  it will draw around 14.4W/meter so I wouldn't go past 1.5meters or 150cm to not exceed the 2 amp capacity.

Are there any that consume less power? thats just under the length ill need

You can get ones with a lower density of LED chips, that roll has a total of 300 for 5M or 60LED/M. There are ones that only have 150 total or 30LED/M.

If needed there are also powered RGB hubs which can repeat and split the signal if you want a lot of lights.

You can’t that board doesn’t support addressable LED only standard 4 Pin RGB LED’s.

This is a lower density LED strip so you can go double the length up to 3M max.

I still havent gotten around to ordering these, I just remembered it today, but one question I have is, will I still be able to get it to change color from within asus aura even though it is not individually addressable? so like the music option, will it be able to change to the colors that tells it to?

or even just the color cycle effect?

Your going to have to refresh my memory on this, you wanted to connect RGB lights using Asus Aura? What board are we working with the Asus RG Strix B350-F in the sig?

yes, that is the correct board, and since I would have to cut the leds because I font need 16 feet of them, I was going to put the rest on my desk without being synced to the motherboard, they could just be controlled with the remote. heres the leds I was going to get https://www.amazon.com/Flexible-Changing-Non-Waterproof-Controller-Included/dp/B01EWBZW0A/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&dpID=51QZvzKc4oL&dpPl=1&keywords=rgb%2Bled%2Bstrip%2B150%2Bled&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&qid=1523939062&ref=plSrch&ref_=mp_s_a_1_10&sr=8-10&tag=linus21-20&th=1

Yes you'll be able to use those lights with this motherboard since it uses the standard 4 pin analog RGB system, not the addressable type. Just note the max amperage of the header as mentioned before being 2 Amps and to not exceed that. Once you have your length if lights cut for the system you can use the rest with that controller and external power supply for other lighting projects.
