upgrade old laptop to chromebook

is it possible to get chrome os on my old laptop. and it it does is it worth it to upgrade 

will it do any good to my old crapy laptop???

and will my battery last longer

chrome OS is pretty limited from what i have heard. i'd rather use a lightweight linux distro

Use Linux instead. Chrome OS is only good for laptops that can't run anything else.

Entirely agree regarding trying Linux if you are wanting an OS and are trying to reduce costs.  Different people I am sure will have different opinions, however I recently converted an old laptop of mine to Linux and found Ubuntu 17.10 really easy to setup and use.
