Eating mud is also free, doesn't mean you should.

Fine. Y'all win. Say I put a GPU in there what sort of processor should I get? Cores or speed?

the cheapest

CPU doesn't matter in GPU mining as long as there is enough PCIe

There's no cheap mining cpu. Mining is expensive if you wan't to make real money.

Using minimum hardware won't be enough to pay your bills.

CPU mining is not worth it even with my R5 1600, ill get as high as $0.5 a day not including power.

Using my 1050ti ill be getting $2 a day.

That's to illustrate the difference between cpu and gpu mining.

For mining you want to get the highest performing gpu for the lowest power consumption.

The most profitable gpus are GTX 1070 and RX470, but those cost a lot now.

For CPU, get the lowest TDP / Watt possible (maybe not the cheapest).

CPUs output is negligible, so a athlon or pentium will do.

Keep the whole system power consumption down and you'll make money.

If you want to know which gpu for mining check this website : http://whattomine.com

Depends on the setup. My 4790 or a Ryzen 1500 or even a new i3 can get around 1.50 a day. But can also sacrifice hash rates for the cards. I’d rather not do it because the power and recourses it wastes I can run another card and see a few bucks a day.

Just get the cheapest cpu you can if you are making a rig to mine but, if you are doing it all to just mine with a cpu get an i5 or mid to low grade Ryzen.
