I'm pretty sure my cache ratio used to clock down before on my old motherboard along with my CPU.

I set the minimum cache ratio to auto in my maximus hero vii bios, but it just seems to stay the same as the max ratio.

Should I manually set it to 8 so it drops to 800mhz or am I remembering something wrong and is it supposed to do this?

Maybe I missed a setting too.

Unless you are having any kind of issues with stability or usage, I don't see the problem why you should change it.

looking for any way to decrease temperatures..

I've always found having a turbo mode where it clocks down to like 800mhz at idle for the core clock speed takes like maybe 5 degrees off of your max temps give or take. Maybe I can drop a few more.

Especially if I actually get around to doing the cache voltage manually instead of just leaving it on auto.

Why not is why :P

because it's fun to nit pick every little detail about an OC and learn how to tweak it pointlessly more.

Just curious of if there's a reason why the cache/ring ratio wouldn't clock down in turbo mode automatically like the core clock would.

That's the default and I'm curious as to why.

For now I'm leaving it on 4.0 stock for the minimum cache ratio manually instead of leaving it on auto where it matches the max speed.
