I am going to be getting the Fractal Design Define R6, but I am now up to the hardest part. The RGB stage. I am looking at getting probably 3 ML140 RGB fans, and 4 RGB Lighting Strips (both Corsair products). The thing is, I don’t know what parts to get and what packages to get. I know that I need a fan hub, but do I need BOTH the Commander Pro and the Lighting Node Pro? Or do I just need one to support 3 fans and 4 strips?

What I’m trying to say, is if I want to have 3 fans AND 4 lighting strips, can I just get the Commander Pro or just get the Lighting Node Pro? Or must I get both, and connect the Node to the Commander?

(3 x ML140 PRO RGB -> Fan Hub) + 4 RGB Lighting Strips -> Lighting Node Pro -> Commander Pro -> Motherboard or wherever it connects

OR

(3 x ML140 PRO RGB -> Fan Hub) + 4 RGB Lighting Strips -> Lighting Node Pro -> Motherboard or whereever it connects

Can anyone also reccomend packages for this? Like can you get 3 ML140 in a pack and get the Lighting Node Pro (the one which comes with the 4 RGB strips) separate?

Whats the difference?

The Lighting Node Pro has 2 RGB channels and that is all it does.

The Commander Pro:

Six 4-pin fan ports with voltage and PWM control

Two RGB LED channels for control of Corsair individually addressable RGB LED strips and fans

Two USB 2.0 internal headers

Four thermistor inputs for accurate temperature monitoring

Basically the Commander Pro does A LOT more, but does not come with LED strips. You don't need it if all you want is RGB control.

If I get the commander do I still need a fan hub?

With the commander can I connect 3 fans AND 4 RGB Lighting Strips? So I could get the Commander Pro, 3 ML140 PRO RGB Fans, and the RGB Lighting PRO Expansion Kit instead of the Node PRO and would it still all connect?

The Commander Pro has an integrated 6 port fan hub & 2 RGB channels. You can connect all 4 strips as long as the strips only occupy 1 channel. So you'd hook the strips up to each other. The fans are the same, they are hooked up to their RGB hub (should come with a 3 pack) that has 6 ports. That hub occupies 1 RGB channel.

Note the above setup. This build has 6 SP RGB fans. They go into the hub (support 6 RGB fans) and that hub goes into the commander pro. The fan power then gets plugged into the 6 4 pin ports on the commander pro. These are 3 pin fans, but the CP does DC or PWM. This system has no RGB strips, so it has 1 free RGB channel.

This setup has 5 HD RGB fans & 4 RGB strips. The strips are chained together, so they only take up 1 RGB channel on the CP. The other channel is occupied by the HD fans in the RGB hub. In this system both RGB channels are used. Hopefully this clear it up a bit for you.

Does that mean I can get 6 fans, connect them up to a fan hub, and plug that into the commander, and then I can have as many RGB strips as long as they are all connected? This also means that I do not need the Node Pro, right?

Yes and 4 strips max (per channel). You don't need the LNP if you only need the 2 channels. You can use the CP & LNP together to get 4 RGB channels.
