I already have a discussion going for getting a LTX travel group together, but this is a bit different. I am trying to get my foot in the door in IT and need more friends in the field and in general I need to know more people with simmilar interests. After high school most of the people I knew left or pursued other things, I'm left with my wife and family, which is great, but I have no one to talk about computer hardware or networking standards with. I know it sounds lame to be trying to make friends as an adult, but there it is, I've grown out of my high school social circle and need to find/make a new one now before i get so engrossed in my career that I don't have time to try. I live in charlotte NC. I am open to making online friends in the forum and other places, but I would love to talk with people around me, be able to hang out, go test drive a tesla in charlotte just for fun, troll a salesman in best buy, whatever it be. I just need someone with similar interests to hang out with around here

Insanity is not the absence of sanity, but the willingness to ignore it for a purpose. Chaos is the result of this choice. I relish in both.

Hi there,

Unfortunately I'm not from Charlotte nor am I from the US either but I'm looking for more friends to talk to as well and you seem genuine enough. Do you have Steam and Discord?

I have steam, though to be honest I don't use it in a social manner, and I don't play many multiplayer games, what do you play on there

I don't play multiplayers either, it's mostly BeamNG.Drive.

i really want to get beam ng, but i need to get some money for it and i don't have a good enough computer to play it yet

the tech demo runs slow on my computer, so i'm not paying for something like beam ng until i have a computer to match

IT is a very large field, what aspects specifically are you interested in?

Edit:

I see hardware and networking standards. Anything in particular catch your interest from those topics?

Current Build Log/PC:

Storage Server Setup:

I haven't fully settled in to specifics, but I'm heading into networking, possibly the security side. I'd like to get the cisco network engieen cert if the field suits me well enough. My mind works well in a large complex system, such as a corp headquarters network. I love designing systems and optimizing anywhere possible

Right now i'm playing subnautica but i am pretty sure that's only singleplayer. I think it would make an excellent multiplayer game!

I also play minecraft occasionally, use to be big into it, but i play technic modpacks and I want to build my own modpack for it, but can't seem to get it figured out. Once I get a modpack built and running, I want to make a server for it

That gives me a good idea, I bet someone on this forum is good with modpacks
