Hi i just got a new monitor 144hz monitor to play overwatch. Thing is though im not getting 144 fps in game even on the lowest settings. I installed msi afterburner to monitor GPU and CPU temps and usage. The CPU is running 85 to 95 percent, and GPU around 50 to 60 percent. Temps for the cpu are between 40 to 55 c, as for the gpu mid 60s to mid 70s. Im also using around 6GB of ram. I think my CPU may be bottle necking my GPU. But all of the videos and benchmarks ive seen running the same setup as me, or using the i5 6500 instead of the 6400 are getting around 100 to 120 on ultra. If anyone could help i would very much appreciate that.

If your cpu is at 95% usage then yeah it's not going to get any faster than it's currently going.

best bet would be turn down the resolution with only 3gb of vram.

less detailed models = less information to load into the system ram

while the gpu does have to display everything , the cpu has to do it's part to feed the gpu. give the cpu less to do and it free up cycles and get more fps.

Note: in any game how when you increase graphical detail and resolution , the cpu usage also goes up a little bit too.

try turbo-ing the i5?
