I was looking at picking up a Rosewill Power supply for a friend who does light gaming. Buying this as an early wedding gift since she needed something for her new build but her car just broke down so she's strapped for cash.

Is this a good general enough one? I know the Watts is enough just want to know if that brand is reputable and I know it's an in-house NewEgg brand.

the brand is definitely reputable and you or your friend should have no problem with it. If you did I'm almost sure that they would send you a new one or make it right somehow.   but I geas that others don't like it in the chat so I probably would just do what the others are saying i had a 500w one for 3 years and mo problem but they do so go fewer watts and a better powerslide

Not only is Rosewill known for not making the best PSUs. There's also the fact that every PSU company makes cheap shit. Corsair, EVGA, Seasonic, all of them. And the Hive is cheap shit priced like it's not.

And? Two of those are completely outdated, and Rosewill has decent tiered PSUs in all of them. If you're judging based on their worst units, all brands are shitty

I guess I heard wrong I know they are bad but not that bad. That have worked for me but still, go with another brand

It's not about brand!

Rosewill has some good PSUs like the Photon and the Quark.

It's just their other models aren't great.

Corsair's VS isn't great either

Well I settled for this one

https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151189&_ga=2.251034566.1550383981.1516637091-472736426.1514999434&_gac=1.190345689.1515444480.Cj0KCQiAyszSBRDJARIsAHAqQ4omCahrQ7NkgQBEPqCQmTavDH2kGqWroy0BFTnM225whjo8FF_pEg0aAqg5EALw_wcB

Seems like it's more than enough to power her computer since through the calculator she would need about 450 W but planning to buy a 1060.

Currently: i5-3570K, SSD, 3 fans, and a 960.

She just wants to get on PUBG with our group and that works out since it's primarily my old system.

If her system is an i5 and a 1060, the most power she'll ever draw is 300W, not even 450. But it's good to have a PSU with additional capacity so it can accommodate more power hungry hardware in the future.

That's basically it since if she plans to build a higher end system that should be more than enough.
