Hi,

I am on a process of building a dual cpu motherboard. So i have this :

SuperMicro AMD H8DGI-F Motherboard Dual Socket G34.

Amd opteron 6376 x2.

DDR3 generic RAM x2.

Planning to run USB based Ubuntu OS, external cooling system, regular mouse and keyboard. The problem however is the psu connection, This setup requires 2* 8pin connectors, while the psu's available in my current location have only one 8pin connectors.

Online psu calculators gave a range from 350-396w, so i suppose a 450W should do. Now my question is, Will a y splitter using this psu : Corsair VS450, or of these sort.

Any help is appreciated, Thanks

@Jurrunio  I know, I am mining cryptonite and i have also checked with monerobenchmarks and it gives pretty decent hashes . Also this is my initial setup and will keep adding gpu after a while. So what do you think???

@userzero no i have no gpu at present, and i understand your statement. This is my initial setup and will add gpu to the motherboard in near future. can you help me with this issue?

let's say it's going to do worse than those mining setups, with a dual core modern CPU (so low power draw) and a mobo with 8 or more PCIe x16 slots with x1 bandwidth. It's not the issue of mining speed, but the power needed to get the Opterons going.

It's not what I would have picked, but since you are so tight on budget (judging from how stubborn you are on using this old setup), it will do the job.

haha.., Well I know im definitely at fault here, but i ave already purchased the mobo and processors at ebay and cant return those. so have to use these anyway. Also regarding power, its quite cheap here, 0.007$/KWH. Please suggest a power supply, this one http://www2.seasonic.com/product/m12ii-620-evo/ has only a 1*8 pin eps.

PSUs with 2 8pin EPS are expensive. Just get another PSU and use that EPS connector. You will need to use the jumper method to get the other PSU running. Ebay has plenty of those.

which of these alternatives are best:

1. " Just get another PSU and use that EPS connector"

2. use a psu with hig wattage, 750W, and use eps splitter.

3. bu a single rail 12v connection, and convert pcie to eps.

I'd get another PSU and use two PSUs in this rig. It's easier to add more graphics cards this way. This time dont get another M12ii though.

Why do you want that old shit that doesn't even have the connectors you need?!

Get a decent one not an 8year old shitty Bronze one!

If you don't care about noise much, the Leadex 650/750W would be a decent choice as it has two CPU connectors.

If you live in Europe, you could choose the Dark Power Pro P11 850W or straight Power 11 750W.
