I've had this issue for a long time now and it really started to bother me. For as long as I had this laptop, the start menu has been broken! For some reason when I start the computer from a shutdown, the start menu is greyed out and I cannot use anything on it. A quick fix to this is to use some windows start menu application. But, I have to do that every single startup.... ALSO, the app tells me what is wrong, but not how to fix it.

The pictures are of the start menu greyed out and the start menu application.

Thanks for the help!

It just finished, took like 30 minutes. It said that there were corrupt files and that they were repaired! Should i restart and see if the start menu is still greyed out?

Also, recently my computer has been running really really slow. I haven't used it in a month (Christmas break) and I came back to it being sluggish. I ran 3 virus scans, nothing, a malware scan, 8 threats that were removed, and I defragged/ repaired my registry. It's still slow af.

Anything you'd recommend doing?
