So I don't know if this is in the right place, but anyway I currently have a Gigabyte Z97X Gaming 3, a Intel Core I7 4790K and a Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970. So I am looking to upgrade my CPU and GPU, making me upgrade my motherboard as well. So I don't want to spend lots, but what do you think would be the best upgrades for the future if I am mainly focused on gaming. I can go for Intel and AMD for the CPU and Nvidia and AMD for the GPU.

Thanks!

I'd upgrade GPU, at least when prices go down to a 1070Ti/1080Ti. Hold out one more generation for CPUs. Your 4790k is more than good right now,.especially if you OC it.

So if I was to upgrade my GPU right now what would I pick, AMD or Nvidia. OR should I wait for Nvidia's 11th generation 'Volta'?

I would pick nvidia, but still wait a while as gpu prices are balls crazy

So should I wait for 11th gen or wait for prices to go down on 10th gen?

Your CPU is perfectly capable, I think it would only become an issue once you're running a 1080 or above. Make sure you overclock it to get every bit of perf you can.

A gpu is where you'll see the most gains. Usually I'd recommend a 1070/1080 or v56/v64 depending on what deals are about. but pricing is soo fucked I can't really recommend buying anything new.

You might be able to find something like a 980ti 2nd hand for a good price?deffo worth a look
