so the cloud 2 7.1 surround is bullshit? should i just get the razer 7.1 surround software then? also the cloud 2's can turn the 7.1 surround on and off so do you stil think they are a viable option?

That is a $100 option. All 7.1 headphones are fake, you need 8 drivers for 7.1 and all headphones have 2. And no don’t use any surround software that massively reduces the sound quality. Stereo headphones can more than perfectly produce sounds from all angles and are very easy to hear footsteps with. The SHP9500s are much better than the Cloud 2s

Step one. Don't give into "7.1" surround headphones. How do you expect something with 2 speakers to provide sounds that "sounds like 7.1" speakers? Check out the stickied posts in the audio subforum and you'll find tons of useful information!

any recomendations i dont know what to get.

ok thank you. I fell for the marketing and was a pleb

Hi Mike just wanted to let you know I didn't respond at all as you didn't quote me as I just quoted you, or you could tag me by typing (@username) like @NinJake for me to be notified that there was a response here. I haven't tried that philips headset but it seems since it's an open back headphone you'll be able to distiguish your footsteps pretty well!

No I mean that definitely fits your budget, I'd say go for that option as I've stated, the open back nature of headphones "usuallY" allow for a wider soundstage which is what you're looking for. The headphones that I personally have that I bought for ~100 was the Sennheiser HD280 Pro. But I bought those for boosted bass while listening to electronic music. I have since upgraded to higher quality headphones but with higher quality comes a higher price tag, of course.

I'd say go with the philips and either a mod mic or vmoda attachment, though I've got a dedicated external microphone rather than those attached ones so I can't recommend one over another.

Thats for real surround for virtual surround u need no more than 2 because it work by tricking your brain.

Imagine if u have 1tweet,2woof and 2 sub very close to your ear? thats not how virtual surround work.

And most headset that use multiple driver in each cup to simulate surround sounds are always sounds really bad the drivers never work in harmony and the audio just poping in and out.

That’s what I meant, real sureound you need multiple drivers. And there are very few headsets that use more than 2 drivers. Pretty much all the mainstream headsets still use 2. And virtual surround is equally as bad and the headphones that use multiple drivers.

get cloud core or cloud 1,which one is cheaper and mod them open back, and will be better than SHP9500,and you have build in mic for basic gaming for telling position.here link

These won’t be better than the SHP9500s. And the Bommpro is perfect, it’s not like the modmic where you have 2 wires. It’s one wire and and mic plugs into the headphones through a 3.5mm so it’s basically built in. And when you don’t want a mic it can be taken off and just use any 3.5mm cable.

I knew that u should bring up your own experience but i have tried asus strix 7.1 and kraken 7.1 they use multiple driver and it outclassed by my hyperx with razer surround.

Sure with virtual surround u'll feel like u are in larger audio space but u'll also lose some details especially bass and high but in games u dont really need that details what u need is something to make u aware of ur surrounding like detecting footsteps and whatnot.

Just dont use it for music listening.

So i think virtual surround has its own place.
