Help Planning my new PFSense box

Hell everyone,

 

Soon I am going to be building a new PFSense box for my home network and i was wondering if you guys could give me your advice/criticism. 

 

Parts list:

 

HDD: Some old latop 256gb already have

 

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-M68MT-S2 already have

 

CPU: AMD 6100, i think i might try to clock it down and passively cool it. already have

 

GPU: Probably an old 520 that i have or 7770, or i could just use nothing.

 

Nic: SYBA SY-PEX24028 x2 ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833328022 ) Dont have

 

PSU: Leftover 600w

 

OS: PFSense

 

Ram: Old set of 4gb 1600 (already have)

 

If there is anything you think that i should change let me know, thanks everyone.

i was going to  build a pfsense router once

but found out i was just stupid and bored

instead got a used netgear (bcm4716 soc)  for 21 dollars and installed Tomato on it

 

 

do u really need PFsense ?

 

if u just want to tinker try flashing Tomato which i believe is much better than DD-wrt

Tomato has great QoS features and easy to use + stable

that NIC is supported by pfsense  so thats good
