Hey guys, I traded my 970 today for a 980, and I was just wondering-

Isnt the 980 basically a 1070 with less vram?

Or is it more like a 1060 with less vram?

1060 ~= 980 with less power consumption.

1070 > 980

Inside some old case I found lying around.

The GTX 1070 is like a GTX 980 Ti in performance, the GTX 1060 is usually a bit less strong than the GTX 980.

These are general numbers and of course there will be examples where one will be better than the other: whether by driver support, better optimization or having more VRAM.

There's pretty much no difference in performance between a 1060 and a 980, a 1070 is more like a 980Ti.

You guys reckon a 980ti is worth it rn?

Well, 1070 is neck to neck with 980Ti. 1070 has a lower power consumption. In some games 980Ti is better than 1070 (Let's say 5-10% at most).

If you have 980 i would stick with it. If you play on 1080p. GTX 1060 is only better because it has 6GB VRAM , Performance wise, it's same. Again though GTX 1060 has lower power consumption than 980.

It entirely depends on the price.

I can only say the GTX 980 Ti has GTX 1070 performance, with a bit less VRAM and higher power requirements (thus it runs hotter).

If that makes it worth it for you, considering the prices of the GTX 980 Ti price and everything around it, than go for it.
