I have been wanting to get a 1440p gsync monitor. I have been considering the dell S2417DG which I know is a well known monitor. I have also noticed the dell S2717DG, the only difference between the two is the size, 24 and 27 respectively, and a mild refresh rate difference, 165hz and 144hz respectively. I am considering getting the 24 inch to save a buck but I wanted to ask if there were any unforeseen benefits of 27 inch. I am planning on using an old 1080p tv as a secondary monitor if that affects anything.. Please do not bother me about my graphics card, I have a 1080, I should be fine, I am only really planning on using the 165/144hz for csgo, and the gsync for everything else.

I'd go 27.  The difference between 165 and 144 is negligible, but the difference between 24 and 27 is significant.

Are there any downsides to 27 inch?

Having to turn your head to see the other side of the monitor?  But seriously, the increase in resolution to 1440 will make things much more clear at longer ranges and the larger size makes things more immersive.
