Well, I just ordered two old games through an online marketplace, but now I'm wondering how to check whether they are legit copies or not. The games are Battlefield 2 Complete Collection and Far Cry (the very first). I'll appreciate all inputs, thanks in advance.

Both are physical, and presumably original.

You don't really have a way

I'm going to assume this is on PC

If EA revokes the licence you'll have to contact the seller,if he doesn't refund you, then your fucked

Is the copy of Far Cry the one with a dual width jewel case and 4 CDs for installation? I remember reading that that version has issues on newer OSes without being patched. Just fyi, in case it applies.

But what about the boxes? Are there any validation stickers like the ones on some PS3 games? Maybe there are some tiny details I should look for on each game's box.

In the centre of the disc there should be a shadow-y ps3 logo

Oh, well then... You said something about an EA license, how does that work? Do I just install the games and the installers will tell me if everything's legit? I haven't ever installed an original PC game, except for Steam games, so I have no clue on this.

I fucked up

i read Battlefield  2 and saw battlefront 2

They are DRM free I belive

If you are concerned about authenticity you can always buy them on GOG as they are pretty cheap(Far Cry only)

Never heard of GOG, is it like Humble Bundle and G2A?

It sells DRM free games

It has not steam keys and such is IMO is the better platform the Steam. It's not like Humble and G2A(which you shouldn't be using in the first place) where they sell keys

Is that so you can install mods no problem?

I had shopped on both sites xD

Why is it that some people avoid them so badly?

Do you really want to deal with something like Uplay?

That was bad phrasing

I only meant G2A. G2A is as I've mentioned before a place where a lot of stolen keys and stuff are sold. They are just in general shady af

To me it's the same, I mean, I just want to play the campaign and maybe the multiplayer (local) eventually.

I think I knew that actually, but as long as my money's mostly safe and I get my keys it's okay to me. Keys are almost infine anyway :P...

There should be some hologram in package. Also for BF2 cd-key is on back of manual. I can check if there's more unique things once I get off work.

For GOG it's mainly because they specialize in older titles and just don't give a damn. The sister company for them is CD Projekt RED, known for very non-conventional ethic when it comes to developing games.

In this case it means they don't release games to meet publishers requirements and then patch later. Case and point Witcher 3 which was "delayed" for almost year (in quotations as CDPR didn't give release date for it, approx date was set by review sites based on footage seen in shows). Or the release date given for upcoming Cyberpunk game "Coming when it's ready".

Got home and remembered that all my physical games are at storage locker atm. And I can't find any pics where I would have that box. Got one of whole collection, but that doesn't show anything really.
