I own an Alienware 13R3 and it's been giving me a ton of problems. It goes to sleep too early regardless of my settings, the colours got all f*cked up after a BIOS update, and the wireless card is having issues and needs to be replaced.

I actually never did a clean installation of Windows, and just used the factory setup process from Alienware and updated everything as necessary. I would like a detailed step-by-step guide as to how to do this.

Regards,

Aereldor.

From the Windows login screen (it while logged in), hold the shift key and clock the restart option. It'll bring up the Windows 10 troubleshooting menu. Go to Troubleshooting (or advanced whatever it's called), and there is an apron to reset this PC. You'll then be presented with two options. Complete factory reset, which wipes everything, or there is clean install while keeping user data. This will keep things in documents, pictures, videos, download folders.

Select your option and enjoy the ride.

Different laptops may have different steps so bear in mind. Here's how I do it:
1. Download Windows Media Creation Tool, save it into a USB flash drive

2. Turn off the laptop, insert the USB drive (or use advanced startup options to enter the BIOS via restart, skip step 3 if you're using this method)

3. Turn on the laptop and enter the BIOS/Boot menu. (in my case, I press the Novo button to enter boot menu). Set the USB drive to first boot drive, save and exit BIOS (or just select the USB drive and press enter)

4. Go through Windows installation process and follow the procedure (this can be found online)

5. You have a clean Windows OS

I just did the Alienware factory reset and the colour issues persist. Are there any advantages to doing a clean Windows reinstall as opposed to the factory reset?

Are you sure the color being messed up isnt a monitor fault?

Yes, much cleaner OS, also remove junk files from manufacturer. I had some software and OS issues with my laptop before and they can only be fixed by clean install Windows not factory reset.
