Hi guys, I'm not sure where to post this, I hope I don't bother anyone.

I recently bought a RX560 4GB from Gigabyte and it was working awesome but yesterday all of a suden the whole system crashed. What happened was exactly this: I was playing LoL and the screen froze. The sound from the system audio was a loud buzz and it scared me so I hold the OFF button and switched off the PC. When I tried to turn it back on it wouldn't start. It just kept trying to switch on again and again. First I tried removing the RAM sticks, just in case that was the problem (spoiler: it wasn't). Then I took out the graphics card and voila, the PC started just fine and it has been working perfectly ever since. This morning I tried puting the graphics card back on and it worked fine for a while but then the same problem again. I know explaining it like this doesn't provide much detail but can anyone here tell me what might be the problem? I'm already returning the graphics card just in case but it might be a motherboard issue(?) I don't know.

Thanks a lot for any help in advance.

Does the graphics card now crash in desktop (so no load on it)?

Try use another PCIe slot if possible.

sounds like more a driver issue than anything. Was this an upgrade to the card where you put it in and then booted up and installed drivers on top of what was there already? If so, you likely have a driver conflict/issue. You need to go download DDU and follow the instructions very carefully and do what they say. https://www.wagnardsoft.com/

It crashed 5 minutes into Skyrim, I haven't tested whether it crashes or not in desktop and I already packed it up for Amazon to come get it hahaha. I have a 4x PCIe slot but I didn't want to break the case slots...

I put the card in, booted up and then installed the drivers. But that was like 3 weeks ago and it hasn't been any issue until now... Should I try that?

was it a new system build? or were you replacing an old card on an existing build?

I built the PC a couple months back and I didn't put a graphics card in it then because I couldn't afford it. 3 weeks ago I could spare a few bucks so I bought this card and installed it.

ok, so that finally answers the question. Its a new card with a system that did NOT have a graphics card in it previously beyond the integrated on the CPU. You can try DDU as its possibly, though extremely small, that the drivers corrupted. You can give it a try. I would recommend you go downloading Heaven and let it run for a while and see if it crashes. If it continues to crash, and its on stock clocks, then the card is bad and needs to be RMAd.

okay I'm gonna put the card back in and try that. If I reinstall the drivers and it crashes while running Heaven I should just return it, shouldn't I?

Okay so I didn't even touch the drivers, just put the card back in and ran Heaven and the bastard isn't crashing now. I'm gonna try running Rise of the Tomb Raider and play for a while and see what happens.

You can just let it run, dont have to run the benchmark.
