Fantasy Anime?

Hey,

 

So I introduced my grill to the world of anime. Ofcourse, I spoil her in the way that she gets to watch the good stuff (Akira, GTO, Death Note, Code geass, Fate/Zero... ) without having to filter trough the endless thrash out there.

She loves Nanatsu no Tazai, Attack On Titan, heck even Fairy Tail even though it's not always superb; Her favorite genre is in a pseudo-medieval fantasy setting.

The thing is, I do not know that much of them.

 

I don't like the internet lists anymore since it's always showing the same. One Piece is out of question, it got ugly and to slow.

 

So could you guys propose me some worthwhile anime series in this genre, without over-the-top fan-service nonsense?

Try DanMachi and KonoSuba. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is technically more on the pseudo-WWI fantasy setting but I still highly recommend it.

The problem with modern anime such as one piece and fairy tail is that they are now focus on animating boobs and cleavage instead of giving us a deep story.

 

My recommendation would be :

-Berserk

-Sengoku basara and

-Gate

 

DMC is so underrated but its a good to watch.

Devil man crybaby ( Lots of gore and kinda hentai but story is really good )

A movie but Kimi No Na Wa if you haven't seen it already

And Tokyo Ghoul ( first season way better then second )

Also what kind of movies/tv shows does she like? Usually you can pair up good anime with what you like in tv/movies.

 

My suggestions are going to be something along the lines of Spice and Wolf, claymore (as just mentioned) maybe some Tenchi (the old stuff like Muyo not the new stuff)

 

Give her SAO Actually second thought don't... Tho the second half of S1 does have a fantasy setting.

Deathnote is a masterpiece but only if u really understand the story.
