No I figured it out. I had to go into system then into system variables and in the java settings it had the maximum ram allocation to 512mb. I changed it to 4gb and now im good.

I cannot allocate more than 500mb of ram to minecraft. I have this version of java: Recommended Version 8 Update 161 64 bit. This is what I have currently typed into the executable:-Xmx1G -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:G1NewSizePercent=20 -XX:G1ReservePercent=20 -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=50 -XX:G1HeapRegionSize=16M

With that typed in I only get 500mb of ram allocated. If I try to type in

-Xmx2048M -Xms2048M  then the game crashes. If I change the 1G to a 4G nothing changes.

I am running 16 gb of ram with windows 10, 6700k, and a 1080. I need to dedicate more ram because i have lag spikes when it fills up the 500 mb. Can anyone help? I have tried re installing minecraft and Java and still no avail. It just keeps crashing everytime it isnt on the first setting, and that is only 500mb of ram allocated.

IDK what to do... I think something is corrupting the files. None of the modded launchers are launching either

I might need to reset my pc at this point

didnt see that before, try backing up your worlds and then deleting your .minecraft folder

EDIT: also check how much of your ram is currently being used

It crashes before the game page launches. All it says is that an unexpected issue has occurred and the game has crashed
