Massive mouse lag after the recent W10 update

crystal6tak

Any idea what to do?

I assume this update had to do with the meltdown and spectre patch. Both my laptop with 7700hq and 1060 and my desktop 4790k with 980 ti are experiencing a form of it.

On the laptop, the mouse stutters every few second. On the desktop, the mouse movement lags (becoming extremely sluggish for a few seconds) whenever I do some form of action (e.g. minimizing chrome)

Pretty sure it's the update, I changed nothing before the update and everything was fine. How should I approach this? Reinstall mouse drivers? Some setting option? Any idea?

No. It's not the security update. I have a Core i7 930 (with an SSD) and I didn't feel anything... (well, games are too much for my PC anywhere at decent settings, so I didn't bother to measure, but day to day basic activities are fine).

Sounds like a driver is missing.

  • Re-install your motherboard chipset drivers.
  • Uninstall your graphics card drivers, restart, and install them back. (just in case, but doubt it it is the GPU drivers)

If that doesn't help, see in Task Manager what consumes your CPUs
