SLI 1080ti enough to drive 4k 144hz?

Matthew Y

Hi I'm planning to preorder Acer's x27 monitor but was wondering if 2 1080ti running in SLI would be enough to run it at 4k 144hz. Anyone able to advice? Thks in advance ^^

Very few games support sli. Make sure the games you want to play support sli! I have a 1080ti.I play at 1440p and have 2 auxiliary 4k monitors. As you know, it depends on how demanding the game is. if you want more fps in a competitive game, all you need to do is lower the graphic details like textures and what not. if you want to play games like far cry or fall out at 4k and ultra setting. I would say, it is possible but not likely.

Piece of advice from someone who jumped on the 4k band wagon early; Wait until others have tested it and reviewed it. I wasted money 2 years ago on on a titan x and a 4k  monitor with g-sync. there is no use in speculating and assuming.

Here is where I would keep my frolics if I had any.

It will in most games, but not all. But you need to make sure the games you play support SLI.

from my experience no, unless its older titles, you have to remember that its less than perfect scaling,

that would be your best bet! obviously there is no information about next gen gpu's. We don't even know if the titan v is going to be scaled down for the next gen, I hope it is.

I have a sickness, getting the latest gpu! I will be getting the 1180ti if it comes out with volta and hbm2. Otherwise the performance gains will not be worth the upgrade.

Better off with a titan. Unless you already have one 1080ti. Or wait for some reason.

Personally I'd go with a Titan Xp over the 2x 1080ti

SLI scaling is crap and most games don't support it. SLI is nearly dead.

FYI, don't pay more than $1200 for the Titan XP. You can get the star wars ones from NVIDIA.com for like $1100 or so.

Either that or wait for next gen video cards and read reviews.
