Just took my sound card out of my PC to sell it.

I hibernated my PC and removed the card.

My PC will no longer post, but it does turn on.

The RAM and CPU debug leds turn on initially.

I have had many issues with this mobo not posting, especially with OC's.

My OC was booting fine before this.

Specs:

r7 1700

msi x370 gaming plus

16gb 2x8gb ram corsair lpx 3000

560 ti

corsair csm 650 watt

windows 10

see the rest in my profile

List of things I have tried:

Clear the cmos

clear the cmos while the psu is not plugged in or switched on

use a different gpu

rotated ram through slots

reseated gpu

put sound card back in

removed cmos battery

turned on without cmos battery

disconnecting motherboard power header and clearing cmos

From what I can guess, the cmos is probably cleared, however the debug leds still turn on, leading me to believe that this has nothing to do with the soundcard, and is something else entirely

anybody have any ideas on what's wrong with it?

Any reason you hibernated instead of turning it off? The fact that it stopped POSTing after you did that suggests that pulling the sound card caused a fault of some kind, but MSI's AM4 boards are kinda crap and one having problems from day one doesn't surprise me.

I'd RMA it.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

Well I got it used so I don't know if I can. I hibernated it so I didnt have to reopen my programs. Afaik hibernate saves the pc state into non voatile memory so there should not be that big of a difference.

"Should not be"

In any case, I disconnect the PC from all power sources before working in it, but what's done is done. You should be able to RMA the board through MSI if you get in touch with them, and I think that's what you're going to have to do. If you've gone through all of that and the board isn't POSTing, my bet is that it's well and truly fragged.

found somebody who had the exact same issue as me

http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3540964/post-ryzen-1600x-msi-x370-gaming-debug-cpu-dram-solid.html

apparently my ram isn't technically compatible with my motherboard, ram is model CMK16GX4M2B3000C15

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/X370-GAMING-PLUS#support-mem-12

but I still don't understand why it randomly stopped working when I hibernated it and removed my sound card

I had many issues before but I could always get it to boot eventually by clearing cmos

I believe I have had this issue before but i don't remember how I fixed it

when I short out the reset switch, it turns off the dram debug led for some reason

I also tried it with some ram from an HP oem pc, it was on the compatability list, but it didn't work

was sk hynix HMA451U6AFR8N-TF in 2x4gb config, still didnt work

also, same thing happens without any ram in the slots

I have the understanding that hibernate is a fully off state

unless this is wrong?

Well when they advocate being grounded when building or installing on a rig that does not even have power to it yet indicates the potential for issues such as yours when the unit has power not everything can be powered down theres voltage somewhere on the board
