Fixed the post :)

Ryzen 2 will have launched by then and maybe even some new gpu news or mining-craze or ram has stabilized again. It's best to make this thread again in May, shortly before you wanna buy the stuff. Like a week or two.

Yeah, that's probably a better idea.

Thnx anyway ;)

No problem, but it just doesn't make any sense right now :)

In the meantime you can watch a few tech quickies or build logs to further educate on the subject!

Well, I just so happen to be starting my own build soon as well, and have learned a lot from Linus Tech Tips, and friends that have taught me PC hardware too. I don’t believe anything should be inaccurate, however my opinions may vary from others.

So below I’ve gotten into specifics, but if you don’t want those just keep these few things in mind.

- First of all, put all your parts you think of using into pcpartpicker.com. This way you can find out if your parts work together.

- If you plan just to game, always spend more on your GPU than your CPU.

- Get a PSU that is at least 100+ Watts over what your final system requires

- Make sure your CPU works with your motherboard

- You don’t need to spend more than $150+ on a motherboard

- You don’t need to spend more than $150+ on a case

- BUY FROM TRUSTED BRANDS! If you want to know if a specific brand should be trusted, just look up on online forums such as this to check the brand you plan to buy from.

- The “K” at the end of a CPU means that you can overclock it. If you don’t plan do overclock, don’t buy a CPU with “K” at the end of it.

Here is my specific list. I’m more comfortable talking about Intel and Nvidia stuff, however you could go for an AMD build too if you wish. You will have to disregard most of this information however if you choose to do so.

CPU: If you just plan on gaming, stick with the Intel i5. You don’t really need an i7 for gaming, unless you are streaming, creating content, etc. Stick with a higher gen CPU though, like an i5-7600k or something like that.

GPU: Probably a 1070Ti. Linus has mentioned himself that this is one of the best graphics cards out there, and with a budget that it should be perfect.

Memory: 2x8 GB of RAM should do it. Try and stick in the lower end of the speed spectrum, like a DDR4-2400 or DDR4-2666.

Storage: An SSD and a hard drive are good to invest into. Try a 480-550GB SSD for your games and a 1TB 7200RPM hard drive for internet stuff.

PSU: A 550W 80+ Gold should do the trick.

Motherboard: There is a lot of leg room for this one. I personally like ATX, no micro ATX or anything like that. Just make sure the socket is the same as the CPU (ex: the i5-7600k is LGA1151, so make sure the motherboard is that). B250 Motherboards are great I think for your budget. The reason I would choose ATX is for room to add more to your build later on.

Case: pcpartpicker.com is great to make sure everything comes together nicely. Reason I am saying this is because there are unlimited options for a case, and you need to make sure everything fits. You don’t want something stupid in your build like a graphics card bulging into your drive cages, so using this website should make sure everything goes together nicely. You don’t really need to spend more than $100 on it for a budget like this.

Monitor: A 2k monitor should be fine. Make it a 60Hz monitor with a response time from 4-5 ms.
