Ram's prices got up again just before i was about to buy them... due to this i will have to get a lower quality one : HyperX Fury 16GB DDR4-2400MHz (HX424C15FB2K2/16)

with r7 1700 and asrock killer SLI , ama i able to overclock it to atleast 2800 ?

And is it even a good ram  ??

In general, Ryzen needs high frequencies, with 2600 MHZ Recommended and 3200 MHz being recommended. Ideally, you would you a dual channel v.s. a single channel configuration. However, the CAS latency does not really matter, but lower is better .

Therefore, I would recommend a kit a bit more like this here. Whilst Hyperx is actually a subdivision of Kingston and they do make a good memory, 2400MHz is not ideal for overclocking, however, it is still possible.

Perhaps, you may wish to look at this guide for Ryzen here .

Most ram modules can be overclocked 1 or 2 notches, so yes, 2800 should be possible. I have a 2133/ 13 hyperx kit OCd to 3000/16.
I'd aggree with fish_food, tho, Ryzen loves fast ram, so at least 3200... I found a 3000/15 kit which was priced amongst 2400/16 kits. People weren't buying it cause it was red, so I got it for cheap. Look out for deals like this.
