Coil Whine Modul87+

Hello,

so i bought a  Aorus 1080ti and started some mining when i'm sleeping or at work just for fun, mainly i wanna do Curecoin and Eth.

I started with ETH and the GPU is full loaded with 100% and i hear nothing except the fans.

Then i started folding for curecoin and the FAH client only uses 86% of the GPU. As far as i read this is under Windows 10 normal.

But the weird thing is that now with the 86% load i have i guess coil whine, im not sure. it doesnt sound like the Coil whine example from the techquickie/ltt video about it. not so high pitched.

With 100% load while mining eth or with games loaded it is not there. As far as i understand coil whine it should get worse with more load?!

I have an Enermax Modu87+ 750W, so quite old but well it still works.

Is this Coil Whine and apart of that , is it damaging the PSU if i keep going with the 86% folding?

Doesn't seem that way due to coil whine.

 

 

Just replace your ancient PSU with a new one. With one Card you don't need 750W, a good quality 550W is enough.

 

FOr example a Straight Power 11 - wich should be available next week according to PCGH and other german publications.

 

Or a 500W Pure Power 10 if you want to save money....
