Let me get my PC Specs and version/os out of the way first off.

Alienware 15 R3

GPU, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 (6GB) (Not Overclocked) 70 Celsius while under load

CPU, Intel Core i7-6700HQ @ 2.60Ghz (Not Overclocked)

RAM, 8GB DDR4 @ 2400Mhz

Display, 15.6" 120Hz IPS Panel

Storage, 1TB 7200RPM HDD

Operating System, Windows 10 Home (Version 1709)

Nvidia Driver Version, 390.65

VSync is OFF & never have fps capped

-----------------------------------------------

The problem I am having..

Lately I have been playing Fortnite & PUBG, Both while on the bus/plane my GPU will be running at 30-50% load while only getting 30fps on PUBG or 50-70 Fps on fortnite.

No matter my settings on Fortnite the same thing always happens, The gpu just wont try and go over 80 - 90 or so fps. I would love to get the full 120FPS that my monitor can put out.. If I run Epic setting my GPU will be at 100% load but if I play on Medium settings for example I will get the same FPS but my GPU will only be a 20-30% load. Shouldn't it be getting like 200-300Fps and running on 100%? Just the other day I was playing Pubg and had set my graphics to Low-Med settings to get higher FPS and was only getting about 40-50, So I put my settings on high and was getting 50 - 80.. I am 100% confused and not sure what to do atm. The GPU can run 100% load but it just wont put in the effort it seems.

I've put both games on high power performance in the Nvidia control panel & windows. Overheating isn't the issue and I know it has enough power. I also have uninstalled all Display drivers & re downloaded them.

PLEASE HELP

Thanks a lot.

-Joshua

If you have a 6700HQ Im assuming its a laptop. They use lower voltage and lower clocked GTX 1060s. They wont perform exactly like a Desktop one.

CPU: Intel Core i9 9900K | Ram: 32GB Corsair LPX 3200 DDR4 | Asus Maximus XI Hero Z390 | GPU: EVGA RTX2080 XC | 960 EVO Samsung 500GB M.2 | 850 EVO Samsung 250GB M.2 | Samsung 1TB QVO SSD | 1TB HDD WD Blue

Preformance at the bottom

CPU Isn't bottlenecking the preformance

Yo dude please cut the post if it’s that long and your going to quote it. And BYw you don’t need to quote the OP unless your highlighting a certain section your replying to and need it to be singled out so they know, they will get a Notification you tried even if you don’t quote. It just helps others not having to see and scroll past the same text like 80 times if it’s that long

He said that it's an Alienware 15, that is a laptop.

As for OP, I'd ask if you're running the drivers directly from Nvidia (not Alienware).  It could be an Alienware bullcrap driver / integration issue.  I'd also make sure that Win10 power settings are in maximum performance mode.

Secondly, I'd check your task manager for anything that might be sucking up precious CPU time (connect a second monitor to keep it open on while gaming, if possible).

That has nothing to do with the card not being up to 100%. And it's not like you can call a bottleneck when the CPU is a 6700HQ

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

So yeah, At the moment I don't have a monitor to connect to. CPU isn't bottlenecking anything. How would I check if I am running my drivers directly from Nvidia? Used DDU and 100% removed all my display drivers and only have installed Nvidia's. https://gyazo.com/2e36cf6d9c3be055479d44516cbc50a1

My win 10 power options for Max and power saver were removed for some reason and I created my own high performance mode.

If you used DDU, and downloaded directly from Nvidia's website, you should be good.

You say your CPU isn't bottlenecking, but what is your reasoning / proof behind saying that?  What is your CPU usage while gaming?

That wouldn't matter. My GPU can still run at 100% of its potential but it just wont. True it isn't AS fast as a desktop one but still should run at 100% performance

Like I had posted above. Look at this picture. https://gyazo.com/2e36cf6d9c3be055479d44516cbc50a1 Look at the task bar, I put my task manager behind it. Shows CPU on the far left and GPU on the far right
